The Minister of Awqaf discusses strengthening bilateral cooperation with several counterparts from Arab and Islamic countries.

Minister Discusses Cooperation in Religious Affairs at Hajj Closing Ceremony

Dr. Mohammed Shabeeba, Yemen’s Minister of Awqaf and Guidance, engaged in discussions with several counterparts from Arab and Islamic nations during the closing ceremony of the 1446 Hajj season. This event, organized by the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, focused on enhancing bilateral cooperation and sharing experiences in managing Hajj and Umrah affairs.

Addressing Regional Challenges

During his discussions with Syrian Minister Dr. Mohammed Abu Al-Khair Shukri, Minister Shabeeba shared insights on the role of religious institutions in confronting threats facing the Muslim community. They specifically highlighted the dangers posed by political sectarianism, fueled by Iranian agendas aimed at destabilizing the Arab and Islamic fabric from within through chaos and sectarian strife.

Both ministers affirmed that Yemen and Syria, with their rich cultural and religious heritage, will not become battlegrounds for such divisive projects. Instead, they will stand as strongholds against attempts to distort Islam and fragment its communities.

Strengthening Ties with Turkey

Minister Shabeeba also met with Professor Ali Erbaş, Turkey’s Director of Religious Affairs, to explore ways to enhance cooperation in guidance and experience sharing. They agreed on the importance of defending the just causes of the Muslim community, particularly the Palestinian issue.

Yemen’s Support for Palestine

In a meeting with Dr. Mohammed Najm, the Palestinian Minister of Awqaf and Religious Affairs, Minister Shabeeba reiterated Yemen’s unwavering support for Palestine and its steadfast people. He emphasized that Yemen’s position on Palestine is historically rooted, free from political exploitation or sectarian manipulation. This contrasts sharply with the actions of the Houthi militia, which raises the banner of "Jerusalem" while undermining Yemen through sectarianism and Iranian influence.

Collaborative Efforts with North African Ministers

Minister Shabeeba also engaged with Dr. Youssef Belmehdi, Algeria’s Minister of Religious Affairs, Ahmed Bouhali, Tunisia’s Minister of Religious Affairs, and Dr. Noor Muhammad Thaqib, Afghanistan’s Minister of Hajj and Religious Affairs. They discussed opportunities for joint cooperation in religious endowments and guidance, sharing experiences in managing Hajj and Umrah, and enhancing coordination to promote moderate religious discourse. Their discussions aimed to strengthen the bonds of brotherhood among their nations and peoples.

Conclusion

These meetings underscore a collective commitment to fostering unity and cooperation among Islamic nations. By sharing experiences and addressing common challenges, these leaders aim to promote a moderate and inclusive Islamic discourse that upholds shared values and strengthens community ties.
