Socotra, Yemen – Today, Minister of Agriculture, Irrigation, and Fisheries, Major General Salem Al-Saqtri, visited the Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation office in Socotra. During his visit, he assessed the ongoing operations and discussed the needs of the agricultural and livestock sectors in the region.
Addressing Challenges in Agriculture and Livestock
Al-Saqtri met with Yahya Bin Majid, the director of the local agriculture office, along with department heads and staff members. They provided insights into the office’s current status, highlighting the challenges facing both the agricultural and livestock sectors. Plans for Agricultural Development

These include the establishment of an agricultural quarantine facility at the port, equipped with necessary laboratories. Furthermore, plans are underway to create a dairy center, a veterinary center, and a seed bank in Socotra. These initiatives aim to enhance agricultural production and support local farmers.
