The meteorological department forecasts varied weather conditions across different regions of Yemen today, Sunday.

Weather Forecast for Coastal and Mountainous Regions

The General Authority for Civil Aviation and Meteorology’s Weather Forecast and Early Warning Center predicts varied weather conditions across Yemen today. Coastal areas will experience mostly clear to partly cloudy skies, with warm and humid conditions during the day and mild temperatures at night. Winds will pick up along the coasts of Socotra Archipelago, Bab al-Mandab, Meyun Island, and the southwestern coasts.

Mountainous and Desert Regions

In the mountainous regions, expect dry and moderate weather during the day, transitioning to cold and potentially freezing temperatures at night and early morning. Fog formation is also likely. Meanwhile, desert and plateau areas will see mostly clear to partly cloudy skies, with hot daytime temperatures and very cold nights, accompanied by moderate winds.

  • Zinjibar: 30°C / 23°C
  • Lahij: 31°C / 22°C

Desert and Plateau Areas:

  • Sayun: 27°C / 10°C
  • Marib: 27°C / 12°C
  • Ataq: 25°C / 10°C
  • Bayhan: 26°C / 11°C

Mountainous Areas:

  • Sana’a: 21°C / 02°C
  • Taiz: 25°C / 13°C
  • Dhamar: 21°C / 01°C
  • Al-Dhale: 23°C / 09°C
  • Ibb: 25°C / 08°C
  • Al-Bayda: 21°C / 01°C

Marine Conditions

The center forecasts light wave conditions along the coasts of Al-Mahrah, Hadramout, and Shabwa. Waves will be light to moderate along the coasts of Abyan, Aden, and the western coasts of Socotra. Moderate waves are expected at Bab al-Mandab, while the waters of Gulf of Aden will remain calm. The Arabian Sea will experience moderate waves, and the Red Sea may see moderate to rough conditions.

Warnings and Precautions

  • The center advises residents in mountainous and desert areas, especially the elderly and children, to take precautions against nighttime temperature drops.
  • Farmers, livestock breeders, and beekeepers should be aware of potential frost formation in the mountainous regions.
  • Fishermen and sea-goers near Socotra, Bab al-Mandab, and the southern and western coasts should exercise caution due to rough sea conditions.
