The General Authority for Civil Aviation and Meteorology’s Weather Forecasting and Early Warning Center has issued a warning regarding potential weather changes in Yemen. The forecast indicates that the country will experience scattered rainfall and a light to moderate cooling wave in the coming days.
In a weather advisory released on Tuesday evening, the center predicted significant rainfall in the Socotra Archipelago. Rainfall amounts may exceed normal climatic values, reaching between 25 to 50 millimeters. The forecast also highlights strong winds and rough seas around the archipelago, particularly in the Arabian Sea and eastern Gulf of Aden. Wave heights could reach up to 2.5 meters, posing risks to maritime activities.
In addition to rainfall, Yemen will experience a noticeable drop in temperatures over the next few days. The forecast suggests that temperatures may decrease by two to three degrees Celsius compared to recent readings. This cooling trend will impact various regions, particularly in higher altitudes.
The Weather Forecasting Center urges residents in the Socotra Archipelago to avoid riverbeds and slippery mud roads to ensure their safety. Additionally, farmers in mountainous areas should take necessary precautions to protect their crops from the anticipated temperature drop.
As Yemen braces for these weather changes, it is essential for residents to stay informed and prepared for the upcoming conditions.
