The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center’s project, “Masam,” has reported a significant discovery in the Medi district of Hajjah Governorate. A local resident alerted the team about a field of anti-tank mines located near the populated village of Al-Makhazeen.
Engineer Saif Al-Mashmari, the team leader, confirmed that the report came while the citizen was engaged in agricultural work. The team promptly mobilized to assess the site, classifying it as a hazardous area. Al-Mashmari urged residents to stay away from the location to ensure their safety.
In related efforts, “Masam” has intensified its awareness campaigns in schools along the western coast, coinciding with the start of the new academic year. The initiative recently reached over 230 students at Al-Shadhili School in the Al-Mokha district. The campaign aims to educate students about the types of landmines and the proper reporting procedures.
Ali Al-Rimi, the leader of the ninth team, emphasized that awareness efforts complement field clearance operations. He noted that “Masam” continues its initiatives in schools, markets, and community gatherings to mitigate the risks posed by remnants of war.
