In the third week of June, the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center’s project, known as "Masam," successfully removed 1,243 landmines across various regions in Yemen. This operation included four anti-personnel mines, 57 anti-tank mines, and 1,182 unexploded ordnance.
According to a project statement, the team achieved notable success in Aden, where they cleared 1,116 unexploded ordnance. Additionally, they removed one anti-personnel mine and ten pieces of ordnance in the Qatabah district of Al-Dhale.
In the Hays district of Al-Hudaydah, the team successfully disposed of one unexploded ordnance. Meanwhile, in Lahij, they cleared four pieces of unexploded ordnance in the Tuban district and nine in the Tor Al-Baha district. They also removed one anti-personnel mine in the Al-Mudharabah district.
In Marib, the team removed 32 anti-tank mines. In Shabwa, they cleared one anti-tank mine in the Aysilan district, 18 anti-tank mines in the Ain district, and one anti-personnel mine in the Bayhan district.
In Taiz, the team removed one anti-tank mine and 17 pieces of unexploded ordnance in the Dhubab district. They also cleared five anti-tank mines and 17 pieces of unexploded ordnance in the Al-Mokha district, along with one anti-personnel mine and eight pieces of unexploded ordnance in the Al-Mudhafir district.
As of now, the total number of landmines removed in June has reached 3,699. Since the inception of the "Masam" project, the total number of cleared landmines has risen to 501,243. This ongoing effort highlights the commitment to making Yemen safer and more secure for its citizens.
