Project “Masam” Continues Efforts to Clear Yemen of Landmines

The “Masam” project, operated by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center, has made significant strides in clearing landmines from Yemen. During the first week of September 2025, the project successfully removed 767 landmines and unexploded ordnance. This total included 8 anti-personnel mines, 30 anti-tank mines, 726 unexploded munitions, and 3 explosive devices.

Key Operations Across Multiple Districts

The demining operations took place across various districts, with notable activity in Aden, where teams removed 443 unexploded munitions. In Marib’s Harib district, the project recorded the highest number of anti-personnel and anti-tank mines. Additionally, precise operations occurred in Al Hudaydah, Al Jawf, and Taiz, contributing to the overall success of the initiative.

A Commitment to Safety and Security

This achievement raises the total number of landmines cleared since the project’s inception to 513,090. These mines pose a direct threat to civilian lives in Yemen. The efforts align with Saudi Arabia’s commitment, through the King Salman Center, to enhance the safety and security of Yemenis. The project aims to enable communities to live in an environment free from the dangers of landmines, marking it as one of the largest humanitarian initiatives globally in this field.
