Project "Masan" Dismantles Explosive Remnants in Abyan

On Thursday, the “Masan” project successfully conducted an operation to destroy 4,146 explosive devices left over from the Houthi militia conflict in Wadi Dufas, Zinjibar District, Abyan Governorate. This initiative aims to enhance human and community security in the region.
Details of the Operation
The operation was carried out by the First Special Tasks Team of the project. The destroyed munitions included a variety of dangerous items: 21 shells of 152 mm, 35 shells of 85 mm, 33 mortar shells, 31 shells of 100 mm, 1,200 rounds of 7.62 mm ammunition, 500 rounds of 50 mm ammunition, 2,000 “Mini” rounds, 261 fuses, 31 hand grenades, 15 armor-piercing shells, 10 anti-tank mines, and 9 anti-personnel mines.
Commitment to Safety Standards
The team leader of the First Special Tasks Team emphasized that the operation adhered to international safety standards. They conducted the destruction in a secure area, far from residential and agricultural zones, despite facing challenging weather conditions and difficult field environments.
The successful dismantling of these explosive remnants marks a significant step towards ensuring safety and stability in Abyan. The “Masan” project continues to play a crucial role in mitigating the dangers posed by leftover munitions, thereby fostering a safer community for all residents.
