The local authority in Taiz Governorate strongly condemned the shelling carried out by Houthi militias on the village of Al-Maqdi in the Himir Mountain area of Maqbana District. According to initial reports, the attack resulted in the deaths of eight civilians, including women and children, and injured six others. Additionally, other victims remain trapped under the rubble.
In an official statement, the local authority emphasized that targeting homes and civilian properties constitutes a complete war crime. They asserted that such actions cannot be obscured by lies or justified under any military pretext. The blood of the residents of Al-Maqdi once again highlights the terrorist nature of the Houthi militias, which receive support from the Iranian regime.
The local authority stated, “The war ignited by the militias and expanded in Taiz Governorate has inflicted damage on hundreds of thousands of citizens, deepening their suffering from siege, displacement, and loss of livelihoods. The militias bear full responsibility for these crimes and the consequences of their ongoing aggression.”
The local authority extended heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased and wished a speedy recovery for the injured. They urged the people of the governorate to unite against Houthi recruitment and mobilization efforts, advising them not to fall for the militia’s propaganda or facilitate its violations.
Furthermore, the local authority called on the United Nations and relevant organizations to condemn and document the crime, work to protect civilians, and hold those responsible accountable.
