Local Government Increases Teacher Incentives in Aden

A New Financial Boost for Educators

The State Minister and Governor of Aden, Ahmed Lamlas, announced an increase in the monthly incentive for teachers and contractors to 50,000 Yemeni Riyals. This new incentive will begin distribution at the end of August.

Commitment to Education Amid Economic Challenges

During a meeting held today in Aden, Governor Lamlas emphasized the local authority’s ongoing efforts to support the education sector. He was joined by local council secretary Badr Maeen, Deputy Governors Abdulrahman Sheikh and Awad Mebjer, Director of the Education Office Nawal Jawad, and representatives from the Parents’ Council. Lamlas acknowledged that while the increase does not fully address the significant hardships faced by educators due to the current economic conditions, it reflects a commitment to assist teachers in managing their living expenses.

Support for Teachers’ Rights

Governor Lamlas reiterated the local authority’s support for the fair and legitimate demands of teachers. He highlighted the importance of regular salary payments without delays and called for a fair restructuring of wages. This restructuring aims to ensure a dignified living for teachers that aligns with the current economic situation.

This initiative marks a significant step towards enhancing the educational landscape in Aden, as local authorities strive to address the pressing needs of educators and improve overall conditions in the sector.
