The official spokesperson for the Coalition Forces supporting legitimacy in Yemen, Major General Turki Al-Maliki, emphasized that the coalition will respond decisively and with unprecedented strength to any attempts to target the Kingdom and its citizens. He also highlighted the importance of protecting the sovereignty of the Republic of Yemen, in line with international humanitarian law and its customary rules.
In a statement released on the platform X, Al-Maliki noted that the Houthi militia’s remarks against the Kingdom reflect an attempt to divert attention from their severe violations against the Yemeni people. He pointed out that the Houthis aim to export the economic problems and suffering they have caused, attempting to mask the tribal and social rejection they face.
Al-Maliki explained that the Houthis’ claims fall within a pattern of escalation and hostile behavior intended to undermine regional and international security. He affirmed that the Kingdom, along with the coalition and international partners, is actively working on initiatives to alleviate the suffering of the Yemeni people, which has intensified due to the Houthi coup.
The coalition has proposed a roadmap to resolve the Yemeni crisis, which the Yemeni government accepted. However, the Houthis rejected this proposal. Instead, they have targeted maritime navigation and global trade routes in the southern Red Sea and Bab al-Mandab Strait, putting the resources of the Yemeni people at risk of destruction.
Al-Maliki stressed that Houthi attacks include targeting ports such as Hodeidah, Salif, and Ras Issa, as well as Sana’a International Airport. These assaults pose a significant threat to the infrastructure of power stations, factories, and other essential economic resources for the Yemeni people.
