Minister of Interior Discusses Enhanced Security Cooperation with U.S. Officials

Today, Major General Ibrahim Haidan, Yemen’s Minister of Interior, met with David Schott, the security attaché at the U.S. Embassy in Yemen, and legal attaché Karen Chestin. The meeting focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation in security matters, marking a significant step toward enhancing security collaboration between Yemen and the United States. This partnership aims to address current security challenges effectively.

Strengthening Counter-Terrorism Efforts

The discussions included strategies to bolster joint efforts in combating terrorism and improving the training and qualifications of Ministry of Interior personnel. Additionally, they explored ways to enhance the capabilities of the Coast Guard, ensuring its readiness to execute security missions efficiently. These initiatives align with ongoing efforts to promote security and stability across the country.

Ministry’s Commitment to Security Enhancement

During the meeting, Minister Haidan, accompanied by Inspector General of the Ministry of Interior, Major General Dr. Faiz Ghalab, highlighted the ministry’s ongoing efforts to strengthen security and stability. They reviewed the achievements of security forces in pursuing terrorist elements, criminal networks, and lawbreakers. The minister emphasized the importance of continued coordination and collaboration with international partners to enhance the capabilities of security agencies in tackling security challenges, terrorism, and organized crime.

U.S. Commitment to Supporting Yemeni Security

In response, the U.S. security attaché reaffirmed his country’s dedication to enhancing security cooperation with the Ministry of Interior. He noted the ongoing support for capacity-building programs and training initiatives, which contribute to establishing security and stability in Yemen. This commitment underscores the strategic partnership between Yemen and the United States in addressing contemporary security challenges.
