Minister of Public Health Explores Chinese Health Innovations

Official Visit to China

Dr. Qasim Baheeb, the Minister of Public Health and Population, recently led a delegation to China to explore advancements in public health. The visit focused on gaining insights into China’s experiences in digital transformation and rural health services, particularly in Jilin Province.

Insights from Jilin Center for Disease Control

During the visit, the delegation toured the Jilin Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). They observed the operational procedures and advanced laboratory capabilities. Dr. Baheeb praised the Chinese model, emphasizing the importance of sharing expertise to enhance public health capacities in Yemen.

Health Information Management

The delegation also visited the Jilin Health Information Center, responsible for managing and developing unified health information systems in the province. They learned about the electronic health card platform, the regional data center, and decision-support systems that streamline health services.

Integrating Traditional and Western Medicine

Dr. Baheeb examined China’s approach to integrating Western medicine with traditional Chinese practices in rural health services. This integration aims to improve care quality and expand health services to broader populations, focusing on prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation.

Strengthening Health Partnerships

The minister commended Jilin Province for its efforts in developing a robust health system. He expressed Yemen’s desire to strengthen cooperation with China in public health, health innovation, and digital transformation.

Future Collaborations

The Yemeni delegation highlighted the need for Yemen to adopt Chinese experiences in establishing a national health information center. This initiative would support Yemen’s digital transformation goals and enhance comprehensive health information systems as outlined in the strategic plan for 2024-2028.
