The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) has expressed its approval of the United States’ recent decision to lift sanctions imposed on Syria under the “Caesar Act.” This move is seen as a positive development that supports efforts to restore stability and improve humanitarian and economic conditions in the country.
In a statement, GCC Secretary-General Jassim Al-Budaiwi emphasized that the U.S. decision will create a more favorable environment for economic recovery. He noted that it opens avenues for regional and international cooperation. Furthermore, the decision aims to facilitate access to essential services for the Syrian people and contribute to the gradual integration of Syria into its Arab and international surroundings. This integration is expected to enhance security and stability in the region.
Al-Budaiwi reiterated the GCC’s steadfast position in support of Syria’s unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity. He expressed the council’s commitment to standing alongside the Syrian people in their aspirations for a future characterized by security, stability, and sustainable development.
