The Governor of Shabwa, Awad bin al-Wazir, emphasized the crucial role of the Yemeni Lawyers’ Association in enhancing justice, safeguarding rights, and upholding the rule of law. During a meeting with the association’s leadership, headed by Dr. Ali Barahma, he expressed the local authority’s commitment to strengthening partnerships with legal and human rights institutions.
Governor bin al-Wazir praised the professional efforts of lawyers in defending the rule of law and promoting values of justice and fairness. He reiterated the local authority’s dedication to supporting initiatives and programs that elevate legal and human rights work, thereby fostering a just environment in the province.
The meeting addressed various issues related to legal and human rights work in Shabwa. Participants discussed ways to enhance the role of lawyers in protecting rights and freedoms, as well as contributing to the development of the judicial system to meet current demands and serve citizens’ interests.
The meeting underscored the importance of ongoing coordination between the local authority and the Lawyers’ Association. This collaboration aims to support institutional reform, reinforce the principles of the rule of law, and build trust in judicial and legal institutions within the province.
In a separate discussion, Governor bin al-Wazir met with Hussein Al-Sayed, the Director General of the Zakat Office in the province. They addressed various issues concerning the office’s operations, the challenges it faces, and efforts to enhance zakat resources and improve collection efficiency across the province.
The meeting reviewed key performance indicators from the past period and highlighted the need to develop collection and oversight mechanisms. This development aims to increase zakat revenues and ensure their optimal use in accordance with their legitimate purposes and economic and social goals.
Governor bin al-Wazir stressed the importance of improving the zakat system and enhancing coordination between the Zakat Office and local authorities in the districts. He emphasized the need to improve performance and overcome obstacles faced by field teams. Additionally, he called for intensified efforts to preserve public resources and enhance zakat revenues, highlighting their role in community service and achieving welfare and development goals in the province.
The Governor’s initiatives reflect a commitment to fostering a just and equitable society in Shabwa, ensuring that legal and social frameworks effectively serve the needs of its citizens.
