In a statement delivered to the United Nations Security Council by Yemen’s Permanent Representative, Ambassador Abdullah Al-Saadi, the government emphasized that immediate support is crucial. The ongoing crises, exacerbated by Houthi attacks on oil export ports, have led to a staggering loss of approximately 70% of the state’s public resources. The Yemeni government expressed deep appreciation for the support from Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, highlighting their continuous contributions to humanitarian and developmental efforts.
The Yemeni government described the current situation as a critical juncture following eleven years of war instigated by Houthi militias. This conflict has devastated the hopes and aspirations of a population yearning for security, stability, dignity, and equal citizenship. The government remains committed to building a civil state that reflects Yemen’s rich history and regional significance.
