On Thursday, Dr. Shaya Al-Zandani, Yemen’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, welcomed Anshrah Mohammed Ahmed, the representative of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in Yemen. The meeting took place in Aden, the temporary capital of Yemen.
Commitment to Support UNFPA Initiatives
During the meeting, Minister Al-Zandani expressed his commitment to facilitating the UNFPA’s initiatives in Yemen. He emphasized the ministry’s dedication to supporting activities related to reproductive health, training public health and population staff, and developing policies for both the National Population Council and the Central Statistical Organization.
Focus on Women’s Protection and Health
In response, Anshrah Mohammed Ahmed highlighted the issue of protecting women from child marriage. She affirmed the UNFPA’s readiness to collaborate with the Yemeni government in various areas, particularly in promoting maternal health and family planning services.

The meeting also included Ambassador Abdulqader Hadi, the head of the Minister’s Office, who contributed to the discussions on the importance of the UNFPA’s work in Yemen.
