Meeting Between Yemen’s Foreign Minister and UN Special Envoy

Today, Dr. Shaya’ Al-Zandani, Yemen’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, met with Hans Grundberg, the United Nations Special Envoy to Yemen. This meeting aimed to address the current situation in Yemen and explore opportunities for peace.

Current Situation in Yemen

During their discussion, both officials reviewed the latest developments in Yemen. They focused on the ongoing humanitarian challenges exacerbated by military escalations and persistent obstacles posed by Houthi militias. The conversation highlighted the urgent need for international support to alleviate the suffering of the Yemeni people.

Humanitarian Challenges and Government Support

Minister Al-Zandani emphasized the increasing humanitarian crisis in Yemen. He pointed out that the military escalation and funding shortfalls for the humanitarian response plan have worsened conditions for citizens. He stressed the importance of bolstering the Yemeni government’s capacity to meet the needs of its people and achieve economic stability.

In response, the UN Special Envoy reaffirmed the United Nations’ commitment to reducing tensions and supporting the peace process. He expressed determination to work towards ending the conflict and fostering a sustainable resolution for Yemen.
