Cairo Meeting Highlights Ongoing Challenges in Yemen

Today, Yemeni Foreign Minister Dr. Afrah Al-Zubaidi met with Arab League Secretary-General Ambassador Nabil Fahmy in Cairo. This meeting took place on the sidelines of the 166th session of the Arab League Council at the ministerial level. The two officials discussed the latest developments in Yemen and the broader region, focusing on ways to enhance coordination within the framework of joint Arab action.

Strengthening Cooperation for Regional Stability

During the meeting, Minister Al-Zubaidi congratulated Ambassador Fahmy on his recent appointment. She expressed Yemen’s eagerness to strengthen cooperation with the Arab League’s General Secretariat. This collaboration aims to support the League’s role and improve the effectiveness of joint Arab efforts.

Escalating Tensions in Yemen

Minister Al-Zubaidi briefed the Secretary-General on the current situation in Yemen. Al-Zubaidi stressed the importance of prioritizing the Yemeni issue within the framework of joint Arab action. She advocated for restoring Yemen’s active role in the Arab community, which would enhance coordination with brotherly Arab nations and serve mutual interests.

In response, Secretary-General Fahmy reaffirmed the Arab League’s support for the Yemeni government and its institutions.
