Medical Camp for Hearing Impairments Launched in Hadramout

On October 8, 2023, the Deputy Governor of Hadramout for the Valley and Desert Districts, Amer Al-Amri, inaugurated the first medical camp focused on hearing impairments. This initiative, organized by Seiyun General Hospital, coincides with the hospital’s 60th anniversary and the Global Week of the Deaf.

Camp Duration and Objectives

The medical camp will run from October 8 to October 12, 2023. It aims to identify hearing disabilities and assess cases that require hearing aids or cochlear implants. The camp will provide necessary assistance to those in need throughout the coming months.

Support for Medical Initiatives

Deputy Governor Al-Amri praised the medical teams at Seiyun General Hospital for their efforts in organizing such specialized camps. He emphasized that these initiatives significantly contribute to delivering healthcare services to patients facing various medical challenges, particularly those with hearing issues. Al-Amri assured that the local authority will support these essential services for the community.

Future Plans for Cochlear Implant Camp

Dr. Mohammed Al-Eidros, the head of Seiyun General Hospital, along with Dr. Fawziya Hamadi, head of the Audiology and Speech Department, highlighted that this camp is part of broader plans to establish a cochlear implant program for patients suffering from hearing loss. They aim to enhance the quality of healthcare services provided and alleviate the difficulties patients face in accessing necessary treatments for hearing disabilities.

This initiative represents a significant step toward improving healthcare accessibility for individuals with hearing impairments in Hadramout.
