In a significant achievement for drug enforcement, Finance Minister Salem bin Bureik commended the customs team at the Al-Shahen port in Al-Mahra Governorate. The team successfully seized 200 kilograms of raw opium resin, showcasing their vigilance and dedication in combating smuggling activities.
Successful Operation with Security Coordination
The customs team at Al-Shahen executed this operation on Wednesday, collaborating closely with relevant security agencies. Authorities detected suspicious activity through an X-ray scan, which revealed hidden contraband inside the trunks of trees that were declared as sesame oil presses. This operation marks one of the largest drug seizures of its kind in the region.
Recognition for Outstanding Efforts
In recognition of their exemplary efforts, Minister Salem bin Bureik and Head of Customs Abdulhakim al-Qabati honored the customs team led by Director Thabit Awad, along with six other participating customs employees. They received certificates of appreciation for their outstanding contributions to this significant accomplishment.
