On Sunday, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Amir of Qatar, received a written message from Dr. Rashad Mohammed Alimi, President of the Presidential Leadership Council of Yemen. The letter addressed the bilateral relations between the two nations and explored ways to enhance and develop these ties. It also discussed the latest developments in Yemen and the surrounding region.
The message was delivered to Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, Qatar’s Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, during a meeting with Dr. Afrah Al-Zouba, Yemen’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates. Al-Zouba visited Doha as part of a Gulf tour.
During their discussion, Al-Zouba conveyed the greetings of President Alimi to Sheikh Tamim, wishing him good health and happiness. She also expressed hopes for continued security, stability, and prosperity for Qatar and its people.
The meeting focused on the fraternal relations between Yemen and Qatar, examining opportunities for development across various sectors. Both parties discussed the current situation in Yemen and the region, emphasizing the importance of enhancing consultation and coordination to serve their mutual interests and promote regional security and stability.
Al-Zouba updated the Qatari Prime Minister on the latest developments in Yemen. She highlighted the efforts of the Presidential Leadership Council and the Yemeni government in implementing reforms, fostering economic recovery, and alleviating the humanitarian crisis caused by the Iran-backed Houthi militia.
Al-Zouba underscored the significance of Qatar’s ongoing role in supporting Yemen, aligning with the efforts of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) to help the Yemeni state regain control over its territory and protect its territorial waters and coasts.
In this context, she praised Saudi Arabia’s leadership in supporting Yemeni state institutions and alleviating the suffering of the Yemeni people, aiming to fulfill their aspirations for security, stability, and peace.
In response, the Qatari Prime Minister reaffirmed Doha’s steadfast support for Yemen’s unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity. He expressed Qatar’s commitment to continue assisting the Yemeni people during these challenging times.
Additionally, he reiterated Qatar’s support for Saudi Arabia’s efforts to enhance security and stability while improving the living conditions of the Yemeni population.
The meeting also included the presence of Oussan Al-Aoud, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Financial and Administrative Affairs, and Rajeh Badi, the Ambassador of Yemen to Qatar.
This engagement highlights the ongoing commitment of both nations to strengthen their diplomatic relations and address the pressing issues facing Yemen and the region.
