Deputy Foreign Minister Discusses Humanitarian and Political Developments with Dutch Ambassador

In a significant meeting held today in the temporary capital of Aden, Deputy Foreign Minister Mustafa Noman engaged with the Dutch Ambassador to Yemen, Janneke Sips. The discussion focused on the latest humanitarian and political developments in Yemen.

Positive Humanitarian Role of the Netherlands

Deputy Minister Noman praised the Netherlands for its positive humanitarian contributions to Yemen, particularly in the fields of humanitarian aid and development. He emphasized the importance of maintaining and expanding the Dutch role in strengthening Yemeni institutions and enhancing stability. Furthermore, he highlighted the Yemeni government’s commitment to ongoing Dutch support and the necessity for effective coordination between the embassy and official entities. Noman also called for broadening partnerships with various Yemeni institutions.

Support for Capacity Building and Development Programs

During the meeting, both parties explored Dutch support for capacity-building programs, human development, women’s empowerment, and initiatives in health and child welfare. They acknowledged the need to activate joint mechanisms to ensure effective interventions and achieve the desired impact.

Continued Commitment from the Netherlands

Ambassador Sips expressed her country’s appreciation for the humanitarian situation in Yemen and reiterated the Netherlands’ desire to continue its collaboration with the Yemeni government. She confirmed her country’s ongoing support for efforts in capacity building, nutrition, and sustainable development, as well as working alongside international and local partners to alleviate the humanitarian crisis.

Addressing Funding Gaps in Nutrition

Karima Al-Hada, a planning and communication specialist at the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation, raised concerns about the increasing funding gap in nutrition and the consequences of rising malnutrition rates.

Meeting Attendees

The meeting also included the presence of Yasmin Al-Nazari, the political advisor at the Dutch embassy, who contributed to the discussions on enhancing cooperation between Yemen and the Netherlands.

This meeting underscores the ongoing commitment of the Netherlands to support Yemen during these challenging times, focusing on humanitarian aid and development initiatives that can foster stability and growth in the region.
