Deputy Foreign Minister Engages in Bilateral Talks at Indian Ocean Conference

Deputy Foreign Minister and Expatriate Affairs, Mustafa Noman, participated in the Indian Ocean Conference held in Muscat, Oman. During this event, he met with Eritrean Foreign Minister Osman Saleh to discuss the bilateral relations between Yemen and Eritrea, focusing on mutual interests.

Regional Developments and Maritime Security

The two officials addressed regional and international developments and their implications for security in the region, particularly in the Horn of Africa. They exchanged views on enhancing maritime security in the Red Sea, recognizing its importance for international navigation.

Strengthening Ties with Qatar

In a separate meeting, Deputy Minister Noman also conferred with Qatar’s State Minister for Foreign Affairs, Sultan Al-Muraikhi. They discussed the strong ties between Yemen and Qatar, exploring ways to further strengthen their relationship. The conversation also touched on the current situation in Yemen.

Qatar’s Support for Yemen

Deputy Minister Noman praised Qatar’s supportive stance towards the Yemeni people and its ongoing commitment to achieving peace in Yemen. He acknowledged the developmental and humanitarian interventions by the Qatari government and the Qatar Development Fund, which significantly alleviate the suffering of the Yemeni population.

Qatar’s Commitment to Stability

In response, Minister Al-Muraikhi reaffirmed Qatar’s dedication to ensuring security, stability, and unity in Yemen. He emphasized the importance of providing developmental assistance to the Yemeni people during these challenging times.

Attendees of the Meetings

The meetings included notable attendees such as Khalid Shateef, Yemen’s Ambassador to Oman, and Consul Mohammed Al-Muhaqani from the Yemeni Embassy in Muscat. Additionally, advisors from the Foreign Minister’s office, including Alaa Afara and Dr. Lara Al-Abbasi, were present to support the discussions.

This engagement highlights the ongoing diplomatic efforts to strengthen relationships in the region and address pressing issues affecting Yemen and its neighbors.
