Minister of Defense Reviews Educational Progress at Military Academy

Mareb, Yemen – Today, Minister of Defense Lieutenant General Taher Al-Aqeeli visited the Higher Military Academy (Command and Staff College) in Mareb to assess the current state of educational and training operations.

Celebrating Educational Resumption

During a comprehensive meeting, Minister Al-Aqeeli congratulated the academy’s leadership and staff on the resumption of educational activities after a decade-long hiatus caused by the Houthi militia’s coup. He also celebrated the successful graduation of the 17th Command and Staff Course, which produced 206 officers from both Mareb and Aden campuses. This achievement marks a significant milestone in the development of Yemen’s military institution.

Strengthening Military Foundations

Minister Al-Aqeeli emphasized that reactivating the Command and Staff College in both Aden and Mareb represents a crucial step toward rebuilding the armed forces on scientific and institutional foundations. He noted that future courses will continue in both locations, with plans to integrate into the Higher Military Academy in Aden. This integration aims to enhance the training and qualifications of military leaders.

Importance of Educational Development

The Minister stressed the necessity of supporting and advancing educational processes in military colleges and institutes. He highlighted that such initiatives reflect the recovery of the military institution and its return to modern academic standards that meet current demands.

Lieutenant Colonel Faisal Shezar, Deputy Director of the Higher Military Academy, provided a brief overview of the admission and registration procedures for the academy and its affiliated colleges. He also discussed preparations for upcoming courses.

In addition, Colonel Sufyan Abdulrahim, Director of the Command and Staff College, explained that the graduation of the 17th course has equipped the armed forces with qualified field leaders possessing combat experience, enhanced by both theoretical and practical military knowledge. He confirmed the college’s readiness to welcome students for the 18th batch in the coming days.
