On Tuesday, Minister of Defense Major General Mohsen Al-Daari met with the United Kingdom’s Ambassador to Yemen, Abda Sharif, in the temporary capital of Aden. This meeting focused on the latest developments in Yemen amid regional and international changes.
Discussing Maritime Security
During their discussion, the two officials addressed efforts to secure freedom of navigation in the Red Sea and Bab al-Mandab. Minister Al-Daari praised the strong historical ties between Yemen and the UK, highlighting the UK’s support for the Yemeni government in tackling economic and humanitarian challenges.
Ongoing Military Coordination
Al-Daari emphasized the continuous improvement in coordination among various military formations through the Joint Operations Authority of the Ministry of Defense. He stated that the collective goal remains to complete the liberation of Yemen, restore state institutions, and defeat the Iran-backed Houthi militia.
Global Awareness of Houthi Threat
The Minister commended the growing international awareness regarding the Houthi militia’s threat to regional and global security, as well as maritime freedom. He asserted that eliminating this looming danger requires bolstering the capabilities of the armed forces to ensure security and stability across the nation.
UK’s Commitment to Yemen
In response, Ambassador Sharif reaffirmed the UK’s commitment to supporting the Yemeni government in achieving security, stability, and peace.

The meeting also included key figures such as Major General Mohammed Batis, Assistant Minister of Defense for Human Affairs, Colonel Ali Al-Kod, Director of Supply and Logistics, and Colonel Mohammed Rashad, Director of Relations in Aden.
