In a significant diplomatic engagement, Minister of Defense Lieutenant General Mohsen Al-Dhaeri met today in Aden, the temporary capital of Yemen, with Sudanese Ambassador to Yemen, Dafallah Haj Ali. The discussions focused on the latest developments in Yemen.
Strengthening Historical Ties
During the meeting, Minister Al-Dhaeri emphasized the historical and fraternal ties between Yemen and Sudan, highlighting the sacrifices made by Sudan in support of Yemen’s legitimacy. He expressed gratitude for Sudan’s contributions to the coalition supporting Yemen’s legitimate government.
Training and Development Initiatives
Al-Dhaeri praised the efforts made to train and equip Yemeni armed forces personnel at Sudanese military colleges and academies over the past years. He expressed hope for the return of security, stability, and development in Sudan.
Engagement with Japanese Ambassador
In a separate meeting, the Minister of Defense also welcomed Japanese Ambassador to Yemen, Yuichi Nakashima. They discussed the ongoing situation in Yemen, particularly the threats posed by the Houthi militia.
Addressing Maritime Security Concerns
The discussions included the Houthi militia’s continued attacks on international shipping routes in the Red Sea, which threaten global peace and security. Al-Dhaeri reiterated concerns about Iran’s role in supplying weapons and missiles to the Houthi militia, viewing it as a frontline defense for the Iranian regime. He referenced a recent arms shipment intercepted by National Resistance Forces, which contained 750 tons of missiles, radars, drones, surveillance equipment, sniper rifles, and ammunition intended for the Houthis.
Enhancing Cooperation in Training and Technology
The meetings also explored ways to enhance cooperation in training, technology, and other areas of mutual interest. Both ambassadors expressed their commitment to supporting Yemen in its pursuit of peace and stability.
