Marib, Yemen – Today, Minister of Defense Lieutenant General Taher Al-Aqeeli chaired an extensive military meeting in Marib. The gathering included leaders from the Ministry of Defense, the General Staff, and various military zones and departments. The primary focus was to discuss recent military developments and enhance combat readiness.
At the beginning of the meeting, which featured Chief of General Staff Lieutenant General Saghir bin Aziz, Minister Al-Aqeeli conveyed greetings from President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Alimi, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces. He emphasized the government’s commitment to implementing comprehensive economic reforms. These reforms aim to empower the armed forces, ensuring they receive their full rights and improving the conditions of their personnel.
Minister Al-Aqeeli highlighted a significant shift in international and regional dynamics that benefits the Yemeni cause. He urged attendees to capitalize on these changes, noting that the international community increasingly recognizes the Houthi militias as a terrorist group supported by Iran. This acknowledgment underscores the vital role of the armed forces in reclaiming the capital, Sana’a, and restoring state institutions.
The Minister praised Saudi Arabia’s pivotal role in supporting Yemen and its people. He noted that the relationship between Yemen and Saudi Arabia has evolved from a mere alliance to a strategic partnership, enhancing cooperation and mutual support.
On the military front, Minister Al-Aqeeli reported significant advancements in coordination efforts. A unified military operations room and a comprehensive plan now operate under the umbrella of the highest political and military leadership, represented by the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces and the Ministry of Defense. This structure aims to unify military decision-making and efforts.
The Minister commended the heroic efforts of the armed forces and popular resistance in Marib, who stand firm against Iranian influence and the Persian tide. He acknowledged the immense sacrifices made by these brave individuals in defense of their homeland.
In response, Chief of General Staff Lieutenant General Saghir bin Aziz welcomed the Minister and his accompanying delegation. He reaffirmed the ongoing implementation of training programs for armed forces personnel, aligned with the operational plans of the Ministry of Defense and General Staff. This initiative aims to elevate the forces to advanced professional standards, ensuring high combat readiness under various circumstances.
Lieutenant General bin Aziz expressed the armed forces’ condemnation of Iranian aggressions. He reaffirmed their full solidarity with Saudi Arabia and other Arab and friendly nations, emphasizing a steadfast commitment to regional security and stability.
The meeting also included key figures such as Major General Mohammed Salem Batis, Assistant Minister of Defense for Human Resources, Major General Rashid Atiq, and Major General Masfer Al-Harithi, Deputy Inspector General.
This meeting marks a crucial step in reinforcing Yemen’s military strategy and enhancing the capabilities of its armed forces in the face of ongoing challenges.
