The Joint Forces Command of the Coalition to Support Legitimacy in Yemen announced its ongoing commitment to provide full operational support to the Yemeni Armed Forces. The coalition stands firmly with the legitimate Yemeni government and the Yemeni people to end the coup and restore the state and its national institutions, aiming to build a better future for Yemen.
Brigadier General Turki Al-Maliki, the official spokesperson for the coalition forces, stated in a press release that the ongoing terrorist attacks by the Houthi militia represent serious violations. These actions include continuous assaults against the Yemeni people, internal sieges, forced displacement of citizens from their cities and villages, starvation, and the looting and sharing of resources. The Houthis exploit these resources for what they call their war effort. Additionally, they have targeted tribal leaders and individuals, undermining the social fabric of Yemeni society, instilling fear in women, and recruiting children for their criminal agenda. These violations have caused immense suffering for Yemenis over many years.
Al-Maliki reaffirmed Saudi Arabia’s unwavering support for Yemen and its people until the state and its institutions are restored and the Houthi terrorist militia is eliminated. He emphasized the need to end the threat posed by the Houthis to maritime navigation in the southern Red Sea and the Bab el-Mandeb Strait. This threat undermines regional and international security, jeopardizes freedom of navigation, and affects global trade and the economic interests of all nations.
The spokesperson highlighted the Houthi militia’s attacks on Saudi Arabia, including attempts to target the holy cities of Mecca and Medina, as well as deliberate and systematic attacks on civilians and civilian infrastructure in several Saudi cities, including Riyadh, Abha, Khamis Mushait, Jazan, Najran, Taif, and Yanbu. Furthermore, the militia’s attempts to target Saudi vessels in the southern Red Sea and the Bab el-Mandeb Strait necessitate continued necessary measures to deter the militia’s hostile actions, ensuring the security and sovereignty of Saudi Arabia and regional and international security.
Al-Maliki emphasized Saudi Arabia’s inherent right to defend its sovereignty and protect its security. He stated that the kingdom will take all operational measures to deter the militia and halt its grave violations, based on its national responsibility towards the holy sites, its citizens, and its national resources, as well as residents on its territory.
