The Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council stated that the state is confidently advancing to protect sovereignty and end the coup.

President Alimi Leads Meeting on National Developments

On Friday, President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Alimi, head of the Presidential Leadership Council, convened a joint meeting with provincial governors and the Supreme Security Committee. The meeting also included the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Sha’if Al-Zandani.

Addressing National Challenges

The meeting focused on recent national developments across various sectors. Participants discussed efforts to improve living conditions, enhance basic services, and strengthen the presence of state institutions to ensure security and stability.

Recent Threats to Sovereignty

The discussions highlighted ongoing Iranian violations of Yemeni sovereignty and the Houthi militia’s attempts to divert attention from internal crises. These actions aim to drag the country into new conflicts that serve the interests of their supporters in Tehran.

Emphasizing Local Leadership Responsibilities

President Alimi underscored the significant national responsibility resting on local authorities during this critical juncture in Yemen’s history. He stressed the importance of intensifying efforts to address these developments and fostering national unity among the Yemeni people across all provinces. Continuous coordination with military, security, and intelligence agencies is essential to build public trust in state institutions.

Security and Stability as Priorities

The President stated that local leaders must focus on establishing security and stability, enhancing the state’s authority, combating terrorism and smuggling, and addressing corruption in all its forms. Protecting ports and vital entry points while improving the efficiency of institutions that provide essential services to citizens is crucial.

Government’s Approach to Houthi Escalation

President Alimi outlined the steps the government has taken in response to the Houthi militia’s escalation. He emphasized that the government approaches this situation from a state perspective, not a militia one. The primary goal remains the protection of Yemeni sovereignty and rallying regional and international support for this cause, rather than engaging in confrontations that allow the insurgents to evade their complex crises.

Acknowledging the Armed Forces’ Role

The President praised the armed forces for their ability to protect sovereignty and prevent the imposition of a new status quo through force. He reiterated the government’s commitment to avoiding escalation that distracts from the main issue or provides the militia with a pretext to shift international attention away from Yemen’s national interests.

Commitment to National Goals

President Alimi affirmed that every action taken by the government aims to protect Yemeni interests and strengthen its political position. The government remains steadfast in its commitment to ending the coup, which will continue to be a primary objective despite the challenges faced.

Welcoming Humanitarian Initiatives

In this context, President Alimi welcomed the humanitarian initiative proposed by the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan to resume flights between Sana’a and Amman. He clarified that the government’s response to any initiative aimed at alleviating citizens’ suffering does not equate to a retreat from national goals or a concession of sovereignty. It also does not grant the militia legitimacy or political gains at the expense of state institutions.

Balancing Responsibility and Sovereignty

The President stated, “We responsibly address our people’s needs and open every possible avenue for peace and relief. However, we will not relinquish the state’s exclusive right to manage its airspace and airports, nor will we allow humanitarian initiatives to serve as a cover for imposing a new status quo.”

Key Attendees

The meeting included several high-ranking officials, such as Dr. Yahya Al-Shaibi, Director of the Presidential Office, and ministers from various sectors, including Information, Local Administration, Interior, Defense, and the Chief of Staff.

This meeting marks a significant step in Yemen’s ongoing efforts to navigate complex national challenges while reinforcing the state’s commitment to sovereignty and stability.
