In separate meetings, the newly appointed ambassadors conveyed the greetings of their respective leaders to President Alimi. They expressed wishes for his good health and happiness, as well as for peace, security, and stability for the Yemeni people.
Strengthening Diplomatic Relations
President Alimi welcomed the new ambassadors and asked them to convey his greetings and those of the council and government members to their leaders. He assured them of full support and facilitation in fulfilling their diplomatic missions and enhancing bilateral relations.
Discussing Cooperation Across Various Sectors
During discussions, President Alimi addressed the prospects for strengthening bilateral relations and expanding cooperation in political, economic, security, military, and humanitarian fields. He emphasized that such efforts would help bolster state institutions and alleviate the suffering of the Yemeni people, contributing to regional security and stability.
Appreciation for Support Against Terrorism
The President expressed gratitude for the supportive positions of friendly nations alongside the council, government, and Yemeni people, who face organized terrorism perpetrated by Houthi militias with backing from the Iranian regime.
Addressing Recent Houthi Attacks
President Alimi discussed the recent escalation of Houthi terrorism, including attacks on Aden International Airport and Al-Riyan Civil Airport on Wednesday, as well as ongoing assaults on Taiz, which have resulted in civilian casualties and destruction of infrastructure, exacerbating the humanitarian crisis.
Condemning Attacks on Civilian Targets
He condemned the targeting of civilian airports and residential areas, stating that such actions reveal the nature of this terrorist organization, which uses civilian lives and regional security as tools for extortion. He stressed that continued engagement with the Houthis outside the context of this threat allows them to commit further crimes.
Call for Global Action Against Houthi Militias
President Alimi urged friendly nations to support national and international efforts to classify Houthi militias as a terrorist organization globally. He called for unified efforts to confront this threat, asserting that the world, which united against ISIS, Al-Qaeda, Boko Haram, and other terrorist organizations, must now adopt a firm stance against Houthi terrorism.
Highlighting Houthi Terror Tactics
The President noted that Houthi militias employ tactics from various terrorist organizations, including child recruitment, landmine planting, and the use of missiles and suicide drones against civilians and vital installations. They also threaten international shipping and have kidnapped United Nations and humanitarian organization staff.
International Responsibility to Act
He emphasized that the international community faces a responsibility to take action commensurate with the scale of the crimes, moving from condemnation to effective measures to implement international legitimacy decisions. This includes preventing the flow of weapons and technology to the militias, cutting off their funding sources, and ending their capacity to threaten Yemen and its neighbors.
Operation “Dawn of Yemen” and Commitment to National Goals
President Alimi discussed the “Dawn of Yemen” operation led by the government and armed forces, supported by the Saudi-led coalition, aimed at liberating remaining Yemeni territories and restoring state institutions. He affirmed that the operation will continue until its objectives are achieved, stating that missile attacks and suicide drones will not deter the Yemeni people and their government from reclaiming their state institutions.
Ensuring Maritime Security
He reiterated that the threat to international shipping comes from land, and protecting the sea requires supporting the Yemeni government in asserting control over port cities and coastlines. This includes ending their use as platforms for attacks, arms smuggling, and extorting the international community.
Long-term Crisis and International Support
President Alimi explained that keeping the ports of Hodeidah and Yemeni coastlines under militia control prolongs the crisis and holds trade routes and energy security hostage to the decisions of a terrorist organization and its regional affiliations. He called on countries involved in maritime coalitions to support the government’s efforts to address the source of the threat on the ground.
Gratitude for Saudi Support
He expressed deep appreciation for the steadfast brotherly stance of Saudi Arabia, highlighting its pivotal role in supporting the Yemeni people and their political leadership, as well as in aiding the economy, state institutions, and humanitarian response. He affirmed that these positions will remain etched in the memories and hearts of Yemenis.
Attendees at the Credential Ceremony
The meetings and credentialing ceremony were attended by Dr. Yahya Al-Shaibi, Director of the Presidential Office, Dr. Afrah Al-Zuba, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, and Mohammed Haj Mahfouz, Head of the Presidential Protocol and Ceremonies.
