Phone Call with Prime Minister

President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Alimi, head of the Presidential Leadership Council, recently spoke with Prime Minister Salem Saleh Bin Brek. The discussion focused on the government’s actions to mitigate the effects of a severe weather system that caused heavy rainfall and flooding. This weather event resulted in significant damage in the temporary capital of Aden and the provinces of Hadramout, Lahij, and Shabwa.

Assessment of Damage

During the call, President Alimi received an initial report detailing the extent of the damage. The report highlighted the impact on public and private property, agricultural holdings, infrastructure, and essential services. Additionally, it outlined the coordination efforts with relevant authorities and regional and international organizations to provide assistance and carry out rescue operations for affected families.

Commendation of Local Efforts

President Alimi praised the efforts of the government, local authorities, and executive offices in the affected provinces. He emphasized the need for more sustainable policies to enhance the readiness of early warning centers and adapt to climate changes, particularly in the eastern provinces.

Overview of Economic Reforms

The conversation also included an update on comprehensive reforms and coordinated financial and monetary policies with the Central Bank. These measures have contributed to stabilizing the national currency and improving the prices of essential goods. This initiative is part of the government’s ongoing economic recovery plan.
