On Monday, President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Alimi, head of the Presidential Leadership Council, received the Yemeni Orchestra, led by Maestro Mohammed Al-Qahoum. The orchestra recently performed a vibrant musical and vocal concert at the King Fahd Cultural Center in Riyadh.
During the meeting, President Alimi praised the orchestra’s impressive musical performance. He highlighted the event’s organization, which involved the Saudi Ministry of Culture in collaboration with Yemen’s Ministry of Information, Culture, and Tourism, as well as the Hadhramaut Foundation for Culture. The gathering also included notable attendees such as Minister of Information, Culture, and Tourism Muammar Al-Eryani, Sheikh Abdullah Baqshan, Sheikh Abdullah Baahmadan, and artists Aroa and Hussein Mohab.
President Alimi commended the role of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia—its leadership, government, and people—in supporting the concert. He described the event as an inspiring example of collaboration between the government and the national private sector, serving as a powerful platform for creative cultural diplomacy.
The President reaffirmed the state’s dedication to promoting arts, culture, and literature, particularly through the orchestra’s contributions. He emphasized the importance of reviving and presenting Yemen’s rich musical, vocal, and folkloric heritage in a modern orchestral format.
President Alimi viewed the meeting with the Yemeni Orchestra as a gesture of appreciation for everyone involved in this artistic endeavor. He expressed hope that the orchestra’s work would play a vital role in the battle for awareness, fostering values of coexistence and peace, while combating all forms of racism.
The President directed that available support be extended to the orchestra and its noble mission to convey a global message of peace. He aimed to showcase Yemen’s rich artistic heritage and cultural legacy to the world.
The meeting also discussed the symphony orchestra’s journey and its future programs, which include performances in several friendly countries. Additionally, they explored opportunities to direct the orchestra’s proceeds towards supporting humanitarian initiatives within Yemen.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Yahya Al-Shaibi, Director of the Presidential Office, and Omar Al-Amoudi, a consultant to the President and member of the House of Representatives.
