President Alimi Welcomes Vatican Ambassador in Aden
On Wednesday, President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Alimi, head of the Presidential Leadership Council, received the credentials of Ambassador Christoph Zakaria Al-Qasis, the Vatican Ambassador to Yemen, at the Maashiq Palace in Aden.
Diplomatic Greetings from the Vatican
Following the formal presentation of credentials, President Alimi met with Ambassador Al-Qasis. The ambassador conveyed warm greetings from Pope Leo XIV, expressing wishes for the president and council members’ health and happiness. He also extended hopes for security, stability, and peace for the Yemeni people.
Commitment to Strengthening Relations
In response, President Alimi warmly welcomed the Vatican ambassador and requested him to relay his greetings to Pope Leo XIV and the Catholic Church. He emphasized the importance of providing all necessary support and facilities to ensure the ambassador can effectively carry out his diplomatic duties and enhance bilateral relations.
Vatican’s Support for Justice and Peace
President Alimi praised the Vatican’s steadfast support for just causes and its commitment to promoting coexistence while rejecting violence, extremism, and racism. He acknowledged the Vatican’s significant contributions to fostering dialogue among civilizations and peoples.

The meeting, which included the presentation of credentials, was attended by Dr. Sha’if Al-Zandani, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Major General Saleh Al-Maqalih, Director of the Presidential Leadership Council Office, and Mohammed Haj Mahfouz, Head of Presidential Protocol and Ceremonies.
