In a recent address, President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Alimi, head of the Presidential Leadership Council, urged for a unified Arab investment initiative aimed at supporting the Yemeni people in their quest for peace, stability, and development. He emphasized that such efforts are vital for ensuring regional stability and prosperity.
During his speech, delivered by Ambassador Dr. Ali Mousa, the acting permanent representative to the Arab League, at the Baghdad Economic Summit, President Alimi proposed the establishment of an Arab fund dedicated to Yemen’s reconstruction. This fund would focus on infrastructure projects and essential services, particularly in liberated provinces, to create a model that promotes peace, development, and coexistence.
President Alimi reiterated that Yemen does not merely seek aid; it aspires for genuine partnerships that foster sustainable development and restore its rightful role within the Arab economic framework. He called for increased Arab investment in promising sectors such as energy, mining, agriculture, ports, and fisheries.
The President also encouraged Arab leaders to support Yemen’s inclusion in major Arab economic initiatives, particularly in areas like food security, trade integration, and digital collaboration. He stressed that Yemen serves as the first line of defense for collective Arab security.
In his remarks, President Alimi acknowledged that any efforts by the Yemeni government to improve conditions would face significant challenges without support to restore and strengthen national institutions. He highlighted the need to counter militias and eliminate sources of terrorism and chaos.
He stated, "This is an opportunity to invite you to this profitable venture through collective investment in supporting the aspirations of the Yemeni people—not just through statements, but through practical initiatives and actions. Together, we can write a new chapter of recovery and shared prosperity that will undoubtedly bear fruit across the region."
President Alimi pointed out that there can be no development amid violence, nor a sustainable economy or lasting peace in the face of armed coercion. He expressed gratitude for the steadfast support from the Coalition to Restore Legitimacy, led by Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, noting that without this assistance, the situation would have been far more dire.
In conclusion, President Alimi called for a collective effort to support Yemen’s aspirations, emphasizing that stability in Yemen is crucial for the overall stability of the region. He urged Arab nations to engage in meaningful initiatives that would lead to a brighter future for Yemen and its people.
"Peace be upon you," he concluded, reinforcing the message of unity and collaboration for a prosperous future.
