On Monday, President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Alimi, head of the Presidential Leadership Council, arrived in Cairo, Egypt, accompanied by Council member Major General Sultan Al-Arada. They will participate in the extraordinary Arab summit scheduled to commence on Tuesday.
Upon arrival at Cairo International Airport, President Alimi and Major General Al-Arada received a warm welcome from several dignitaries. Among those present were Egyptian Minister of Labor Mohamed Gibran, Yemen’s Ambassador to Egypt Khaled Mahfoudh Bahah, and Dr. Ali Mousa, Yemen’s acting permanent representative to the Arab League. Members of the Yemeni embassy and delegation also attended the reception.
During the summit, President Alimi will deliver Yemen’s address. He plans to engage in discussions with fellow leaders and heads of delegations regarding the latest developments in national and regional situations. The agenda will focus on enhancing Arab cooperation to address shared challenges effectively.
In a statement to the Yemeni News Agency (Saba), President Alimi expressed his deep appreciation for the Egyptian leadership, particularly President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, for the kind invitation to this summit. He acknowledged the complex political and security circumstances surrounding the event.
President Alimi praised the meticulous preparation for the summit, highlighting Egypt’s pivotal role in promoting Arab solidarity. He reaffirmed support for the Palestinian people’s right to establish a fully sovereign state.
The President expressed confidence that the Cairo summit will achieve its intended goals. He hopes for a comprehensive Arab approach to tackle current challenges, including the establishment of a comprehensive reconstruction plan for Gaza. Additionally, he emphasized the need to strengthen the Arab nations’ positions in safeguarding their collective security.
This summit represents a critical opportunity for Arab leaders to unite and strategize on pressing issues affecting the region.
