On Monday, Ahmed Ghaleb, the Governor of the Central Bank of Yemen, met with Patrick Simonnet, the European Union Ambassador, in the temporary capital of Aden. The two officials discussed various economic and financial developments impacting Yemen and the broader region.
During the meeting, they addressed how ongoing regional events affect local and global economies. They particularly focused on the challenges faced by countries experiencing difficult and unfavorable conditions. Governor Ghaleb emphasized the importance of the partnership between Yemen and EU member states. He expressed gratitude for the technical support the Central Bank receives from the EU, which plays a crucial role in stabilizing Yemen’s economy.
Ambassador Simonnet reaffirmed the EU’s commitment to supporting Yemen and the Central Bank. He highlighted the bank’s vital role in maintaining stability and enhancing the financial sector’s capacity to navigate adverse developments.
The meeting also included Deputy Governor Dr. Mohammed Banajah, along with several officials and representatives from the Central Bank.
