Urgent Humanitarian Appeal from Taiz Governor

Governor Nabil Shamsan has issued an urgent humanitarian appeal, warning of an impending disaster due to a severe blockade. He described this situation as more brutal and bitter than the blockade of 2015. The city now faces a suffocating grip that threatens the lives of over 2.8 million residents.

Critical Fuel Shortages Impact Vital Services

The governor explained that the ban on the entry of oil derivatives and diesel has led to the closure of approximately 99% of fuel stations. This situation has resulted in a near-total halt of essential services. Hospitals and health centers stand on the brink of collapse amid a severe shortage of medicines and basic medical supplies. This crisis endangers the lives of patients suffering from kidney failure, as well as children and the elderly.

Call for International Action

Shamsan urged the international community, the United Nations, and humanitarian organizations to fulfill their legal and moral responsibilities. He called for immediate action to condemn the blockade and to exert real pressure to open humanitarian routes. He emphasized the urgent need for the safe and immediate flow of fuel shipments, food supplies, and life-saving medicines to prevent the worsening of the humanitarian tragedy faced by the city and its inhabitants.
