Today, Shabwa Governor Awad bin al-Wazir inaugurated Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and Computed Tomography (CT) units at Shabwa General Hospital. This initiative aims to significantly enhance healthcare services in the region. The hospital operates under the management of Al-Saad Company, with funding provided by the Saudi Program for the Development and Reconstruction of Yemen. The launch event was attended by Dr. Ali Al-Dhib, the Director General of the Health and Population Office in Shabwa.
Advanced Diagnostic Capabilities
Following the inauguration, Governor bin al-Wazir received a detailed briefing from Dr. Hussein Al-Tawil, the General Director of the hospital, who elaborated on the advanced diagnostic capabilities offered by the newly installed equipment. The MRI machine is designed to provide high-resolution images of internal organs and soft tissues, thereby facilitating accurate diagnoses of neurological disorders and tumors. Meanwhile, the CT scanner plays a pivotal role in delivering rapid and comprehensive digital images, particularly in emergency situations and for critical injuries, as well as in diagnosing chest and abdominal diseases.
Enhancing Free Healthcare Services
Governor bin al-Wazir emphasized the significance of introducing the MRI machine, marking it as the first of its kind in the province, alongside the CT scanner. He stated that these devices would effectuate a qualitative shift in the free medical services available to patients from Shabwa and neighboring provinces. The governor expressed his gratitude for Saudi support for the hospital, highlighting the essential need to enhance its medical capabilities to deliver high-quality healthcare services.

During the inauguration event, Governor bin al-Wazir also toured ongoing projects for the General Emergency Department and the Cardiology and Cardiac Catheterization Center within the hospital premises. He commended the progress made in these projects, affirming their importance in bolstering the hospital’s readiness and integrating modern specialized medical services to better meet citizens’ needs.

In a related context, Governor bin al-Wazir reviewed the educational process at the Amin Nasher Higher Institute for Health Sciences. He listened intently to Dean Belayed Al-Bouhar’s explanation regarding the educational performance and the implementation of academic and training programs.
