The recent surge in traffic accidents has resulted in the deaths of 25 individuals and injuries to 96 others over a ten-day period. According to the Security Media Center of the Ministry of Interior, this alarming trend occurred between March 15 and March 24.
During this period, authorities recorded a total of 112 traffic accidents. The incidents included a variety of scenarios: 55 vehicle collisions, 33 pedestrian accidents, 15 vehicle rollovers, 5 crashes involving fixed objects, and 4 cases of individuals falling from vehicles. The financial losses from these accidents exceeded 1.6 billion Riyals.
The Security Media Center attributed the significant rise in traffic-related casualties to increased activity on internal roads. As the Eid al-Fitr holiday approaches, more citizens and expatriates return to their hometowns to celebrate with family. This influx of travelers contributes to the heightened risk of accidents on the roads.
The recent data highlights the urgent need for enhanced road safety measures. As the holiday season approaches, it is crucial for drivers to remain vigilant and prioritize safety to prevent further tragedies on the roads.
