Saudi Arabia has reiterated its dedication to restoring peace in Yemen and supporting all initiatives aimed at resolving the ongoing crisis. The Kingdom aims to alleviate the humanitarian suffering faced by the Yemeni people.
In a speech delivered by Asia Baakda, the head of the Human Rights Section of the Saudi Permanent Mission to the United Nations, during the 57th session of the Human Rights Council in Geneva, she emphasized the Kingdom’s initiative to end the war in Yemen and achieve a comprehensive political solution.
Baakda noted the rising tensions in the Red Sea region, which threaten the security and safety of international shipping lanes and global trade. In light of these challenges, Saudi Arabia renewed its call for all parties to exercise wisdom, avoid escalation, and enhance joint efforts to maintain security and stability in the region. The Kingdom stressed that freedom of maritime navigation is a global demand that affects the interests of the entire world.
During the session, the Saudi delegation participated in a general discussion on providing technical assistance and capacity building within the council. The delegation welcomed the release of the twelfth report by the Yemeni National Commission for Monitoring Human Rights Violations. They underscored the importance of the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights continuing to intensify its support for the commission.
In conclusion, Saudi Arabia’s commitment to peace in Yemen remains unwavering, as the Kingdom actively engages in international efforts to address the humanitarian crisis and promote stability in the region.
