Medical Committee Launches Professional Licensing Exams in Yemen

The Medical Committee of the Supreme Medical Council in Yemen initiated professional licensing exams today for health sector workers in the provinces of Marib, Al-Jawf, and Al-Bayda. Approximately 250 professionals, including doctors, assistants, laboratory technicians, and nurses, participated in this important assessment.

Purpose of the Exams

Dr. Abdrabuh Al-Salahi, the head of the Medical Committee in the province, explained that these exams aim to uphold the council’s authority following its reformation by presidential decree. The committee’s primary goal is to address discrepancies within the healthcare sector, eliminate unqualified personnel, and protect patients from medical errors. Additionally, the exams will evaluate the educational outcomes and competencies of health workers.

Responsibilities of the Medical Committee

Dr. Al-Salahi emphasized that the Medical Committee is responsible for issuing professional licenses to health workers across the provinces of Marib, Al-Jawf, and Al-Bayda, which share geographical proximity. This initiative represents a significant step towards enhancing the quality of healthcare services in the region.
