Prime Minister Meets UN Assistant Secretary-General to Discuss Development Cooperation

On Tuesday, Prime Minister Dr. Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak met with Abdullah Al-Dardari, the Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations and the Regional Director for Arab States of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). The meeting focused on enhancing collaboration between the Yemeni government and the UNDP.

Strengthening Institutional Reforms and Combating Corruption

During the discussion, both leaders addressed the ongoing efforts to support initiatives aimed at strengthening state institutions and implementing institutional reforms in Yemen. They also highlighted the importance of combating corruption and enhancing community resilience to face humanitarian and economic challenges.

Acknowledging the UNDP’s Role

Prime Minister bin Mubarak praised the significant role that the UNDP plays in supporting the Yemeni government and its people during these challenging times. He emphasized the need for continued partnership to address pressing issues in the country.

Commitment to Sustainable Development

In response, Al-Dardari reaffirmed the UNDP’s commitment to supporting the Yemeni government’s reform agenda. He outlined plans to continue providing assistance through development projects designed to improve citizens’ livelihoods and empower government institutions to operate efficiently and effectively. Al-Dardari also reviewed joint efforts to promote sustainable development and support the Yemeni government’s plans for achieving economic and social stability.

The meeting included several key figures, such as Engineer Anis Baharitha, the Director of the Prime Minister’s Office, Ambassador Mujib Othman, the Prime Minister’s Advisor, and Jamal Ben Ghanem, the Executive Director of the Emergency Response Unit.

This collaboration marks a significant step toward addressing Yemen’s pressing challenges and fostering a more stable future for its citizens.
