Transitioning to Broader Development Initiatives

The President articulated his desire to transition the partnership with Japan from a focus on humanitarian responses to a broader emphasis on development, recovery, and reconstruction. He expressed hopes for an increased presence of Japanese companies and expertise in future projects related to infrastructure, energy, ports, and technical education.

Current Situation in Yemen

President Alimi addressed the current situation in Yemen, detailing government reforms aimed at stabilizing the economy, unifying security and military decisions, and improving essential services. He acknowledged the vital support from Saudi Arabia, which serves as a cornerstone for establishing security and stability while backing ongoing reforms.

Humanitarian Priorities and Trust-Building

The President commended Japan’s humanitarian focus, reaffirming the Yemeni government’s commitment to addressing critical issues, particularly concerning detainees. He regarded the recent agreement as a positive step toward building trust and resolving other humanitarian matters.

Addressing Regional Security Threats

Furthermore, President Alimi discussed the Houthi threat to international maritime security, describing it as an Iranian proxy that destabilizes the region. He emphasized that the security of the Red Sea and Bab el-Mandeb Strait is a global issue impacting the world economy, including Japanese commercial interests. He called for tangible support for the Yemeni state and its legitimate institutions to protect maritime routes.

Conclusion
