On Monday, Prime Minister Dr. Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak of Yemen conducted a virtual meeting with the accredited ambassadors of the European Union to the Republic of Yemen, discussing the developments in Yemen and the region.
During the conversation, the Prime Minister highlighted the government’s efforts to address the economic and humanitarian challenges facing the country. He pointed out the five key pathways of the Prime Minister’s program, which include achieving sustainable peace, combating corruption, enhancing accountability and transparency, financial and administrative reform, developing economic resources, and the optimal utilization of foreign aid and grants.
Dr. Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak further elaborated on the comprehensive reform process aimed at revitalizing the social security and protection system through relevant institutions and bodies, emphasizing it as one of the government’s main objectives.
The Prime Minister also mentioned the collective responsibility to pressure the Houthi militia to release kidnapped humanitarian workers, noting the government’s efforts in collaboration with the United Nations at the highest levels to secure their release.
The meeting also covered the political and security challenges and the efforts being made to resume the political process in Yemen.
The European Union ambassadors expressed their support for the Presidential Leadership Council and the government’s endeavors in financial and administrative reform and anti-corruption measures. They reaffirmed their continued backing for the efforts of the UN Secretary-General’s Special Envoy in achieving a comprehensive settlement to the crisis in Yemen.
