In a proactive response to the recent gas station explosion in the Mansoura district of Aden, Yemen’s Prime Minister, Dr. Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak, conducted a field visit to assess the damage and the immediate aftermath of the incident. The explosion, which occurred on Friday evening, has resulted in several fatalities and injuries, prompting urgent governmental action.
Prime Minister bin Mubarak personally visited the site of the explosion, which was caused by a tanker at a gas station at the Hashed – Al Tisini intersection in Mansoura. He reviewed preliminary reports and listened to the measures taken by the relevant authorities and the efforts of the civil defense teams to contain the fire. Emphasizing the need for a swift response, he directed an urgent investigation into the causes of the explosion and called for the development of emergency plans and preventative measures to avoid similar incidents in the future.
The Prime Minister also heard testimonies from local authority officials and residents living near the station, who shared their experiences of the explosion and its impact on the community. Their accounts highlighted the panic and fear that spread among the inhabitants of Aden following the incident.
Officials from the Ministry of Public Health and Population provided bin Mubarak with an initial report on the casualties. The explosion resulted in three deaths and numerous injuries, with the injured being transported to hospitals for treatment. Emergency and ambulance teams on-site managed to treat some of the minor injuries immediately.
Expressing his condolences for the victims, Prime Minister bin Mubarak assured that the injured would receive the necessary care for a full recovery. He further mandated a comprehensive review of the licenses granted to gas stations, especially those located in residential areas. The Prime Minister stressed the importance of holding those who violate safety standards accountable, including officials responsible for issuing permits contrary to professional safety procedures. He underscored that community safety must always be a top priority and that officials who neglect their duties in this regard should bear full responsibility.
This tragic event has prompted a decisive response from Yemen’s government, reflecting a commitment to ensuring the safety of its citizens and preventing future tragedies. The Prime Minister’s direct involvement and directives aim to address the immediate consequences of the explosion and implement long-term safety measures.
