Pilgrims Assemble at Arafat for the Sacred Ritual of Hajj

On the morning of Tuesday, the 9th of Dhul-Hijjah, thousands of pilgrims flocked to Arafat, marking the site of the most significant ritual of Hajj. From sunrise until sunset, these guests of Allah engage in prayers, supplications, and spiritual remembrance, embodying the essence of this holy pilgrimage.

Observing the Boundaries of Arafat

Pilgrims diligently remain within the designated boundaries of Arafat, which are clearly marked for their guidance. This entire area serves as a gathering place for worshippers on this momentous day. As noon approaches, the Day of Arafat sermon commences, offering valuable guidance and emphasizing the virtues associated with this sacred occasion. Following the sermon, pilgrims perform the combined and shortened prayers of Dhuhr and Asr, emulating the practices of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).

Transition to Muzdalifah and Safety Measures

As the sun sets, the crowd of pilgrims makes their way towards Muzdalifah, where they will perform the combined and shortened prayers of Maghrib and Isha, preparing to continue their Hajj rituals. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia announced last night that all pilgrims successfully arrived at Mina to observe the Day of Tarwiyah, setting the stage for their ascent to Arafat. Colonel Talal bin Shalhoub, spokesperson for the Ministry of Interior, confirmed the smooth execution of the first phase of the Hajj security plan. Additionally, Abdul Aziz Abdul Baqi, spokesperson for the Ministry of Health, assured that the healthcare system is fully prepared to ensure the safety and well-being of all pilgrims.

The Hajj season spans five days, encompassing the standing at Arafat, an overnight stay at Muzdalifah, the stoning of the Jamarat, and the performance of Tawaf al-Ifadah and Tawaf al-Wada. This year, Saudi Arabia reported the arrival of over 1.5 million pilgrims from abroad.
