Over 1,400 dengue fever cases and 14 deaths reported in Aden since the beginning of the year.

Surge in Dengue Fever Cases in Aden

The Health and Population Office in Aden has reported a significant rise in dengue fever cases. From January 1 to June 14, authorities confirmed 1,475 cases of dengue fever, with 14 related deaths.

Breakdown of Cases by District

According to the epidemiological bulletin released by the office, laboratory tests confirmed 238 cases through agricultural inspections. The distribution of cases across various districts includes:

  • Dar Saad: 277 cases
  • Sheikh Othman: 270 cases
  • Al-Mansoura: 211 cases

The highest mortality rates occurred in the Sheikh Othman and Al-Mualla districts, each reporting three deaths.

Understanding Dengue Fever

Dengue fever is a viral illness transmitted through bites from infected mosquitoes. Symptoms typically include high fever, severe headache, pain behind the eyes, muscle and joint pain, nausea, and skin rash. In severe cases, dengue can lead to death.

Ongoing Health Initiatives

Health authorities in Aden are actively working to control the outbreak. They are conducting spraying campaigns and health awareness initiatives. There are increasing calls for enhanced preventive measures and improved healthcare services to combat the spread of this disease.
