OCHA reports a serious escalation in attacks on civilians and children in Gaza and the West Bank.

UN Reports Alarming Civilian Casualties in Gaza and West Bank

The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) has issued a stark warning regarding the ongoing military strikes in Gaza. Civilians, particularly children, continue to bear the brunt of the violence. Over the past 300 days, more than 300 children have lost their lives in Gaza, averaging one child per day. Additionally, hundreds of children have sustained injuries during this period.

Escalating Violence in the West Bank

In the West Bank, OCHA has raised concerns about the persistent attacks by settlers and Israeli operations targeting Palestinian homes and livelihoods. Recently, settlers set fire to homes in the Masafer Yatta area, south of Hebron. This act has led to the displacement of Palestinian families and injuries among residents, including children. The destruction also extended to property, including solar energy systems and animal feed storage.

Humanitarian Access Challenges in Qalandiya Camp

OCHA highlighted the dire situation in the Qalandiya Camp in Jerusalem, where thousands of Palestinians have faced a lockdown for the third consecutive day following an Israeli military operation. Humanitarian partners struggle to reach the area, raising significant concerns about the safety of residents and their access to essential services and emergency care.

The situation remains critical as humanitarian organizations work to address the urgent needs of affected populations in both Gaza and the West Bank.
