Ministry of Interior official discusses enhancing cooperation with the UN Humanitarian Affairs Coordinator.

In a significant meeting held in the temporary capital, Aden, Major General Mohammed Masaed Al-Amir, the Deputy Minister of the Interior for Security and Police Affairs, engaged in discussions with Julian Harneys, the United Nations’ Coordinator for Humanitarian Affairs in Yemen, to explore avenues for enhancing cooperation between the two parties. The discussions particularly focused on providing necessary support in the security sector and bolstering the efforts of the Ministry of Interior and its affiliated agencies to achieve and maintain security and stability in the liberated provinces.

The meeting delved into various topics, including expanding support areas to encompass prisons and civil defense, as well as equipping police centers with the necessary devices and capabilities to perform their duties effectively.

Major General Al-Amir emphasized the Ministry of Interior’s commitment to strengthening the partnership with the United Nations Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs in Yemen, offering all necessary facilitations for it to execute its work flawlessly. He praised the efforts of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) in Yemen and its humanitarian interventions, which significantly contribute to alleviating the humanitarian crisis facing the country.

On his part, the international official reaffirmed the United Nations’ intention, in coordination with supporting partners, to transition from relief support to sustainable developmental support. He confirmed readiness to coordinate and cooperate with the Ministry of Interior to provide the necessary support, enabling it to fulfill its responsibilities in establishing the foundations of security and stability in the liberated provinces.
